The first update for iViewer has just hit the virtual shelves of the AppStore. This update fixes many issues that have been reported by our users and makes the application overall much more stable.
The main change in this update is a heartbeat message which is sent every 3 seconds. Once you update to this version, you will also need to update your control system code to handle the heartbeat messages and replies, otherwise you will see errors such as “Currently experiencing intermittent connection issues” and eventually your connection will be reestablished.
For Crestron users, please update to the latest version of our SIMPL+ module (v1.1) available from our downloads page. The latest version is backwards compatible with iViewer v1.0, but we recommend updating all your devices to use iViewer v1.0.1
For the guys working on porting iViewer to other systems such as AMX, please take note of the heartbeat messages in the updated Developers Manual v1.1 available from our downloads page. Failing to reply to heartbeat requests whilst running iViewer v1.0.1 will cause your connection to be reestablished every few seconds.
- The next revision of iViewer is already under development, adding features such as:
- Sending custom commands to any IP address/port via TCP or UDP on button press
- Dynamic scrollable lists - completely customisable finger flicking lists
- Gestures - perform actions such as page flips with the flick of a finger
Expect the next revision to hit the AppStore in the coming month. But for now, please update to iViewer v1.0.1 to benefit from the increased stability.
